Overview
A journey across southwest France, from the heart of the basque country where the Pyrennees meet the Atlantic to the origins of Cro Magnon man in the Perigord.
This tour focuses on lesser known wine regions, historical villages and towns where the age old traditions and hospitality of Aquitaine still hold sway. Our itinerary starts in the Basque capital Bayonne, heading northeast on quiet country roads along the foothills of the Pyrennees, through the vineyards of Béarn, Tursan, Armagnac, Gascogne and Buzet ,through the land of bastides and arriving in the Perigord noir.

Tours can start any day of the week all year round, except July and August.

- 2 riders – 490 €uros per person
- 3 to 8 riders – 390 €uros per person

DAY 1 : Welcome to Bayonne
Once you have settled in to your hotel, there will be a bike fitting session and orientation meeting to prepare you for the week ahead |
INCLUSIONS :
- Rental of 24 speed Trek hybrid touring bike, fully equipped.
- Maps marked with routes and places of interest.
- Baggage transfer from hotel to hotel.

DAY 2 : Bayonne to Salies de Béarn
The first day of riding follows the Adour river, then the Gave de Pau river along the foothills of the Pyrennees to the centre of the Béarn wine region, the charming town of Salies de Béarn. |

DAY 3 : Salies de Béarn to Hagetmau
Leaving the mountains behind, riding on quiet, undulating, scenic country roads through field and forest to your overnight stop on the outskirts of Hagetmau. |

DAY 4 : Hagetmau to Barbotan
Heading northeast through the pine forests of the Landes and vineyards of Tursan to the thermal spa town of Barbotan |

DAY 5 : Barbotan to Aiguillon
Cycling through the vineyards of several wine regions : Bas-Armagnac, Armagnac, Flocs de Gascogne and Buzet via the bastides of Gascogne to your hotel in the town of Aiguillon, on the pilgrim route of St Jacques de Compostelle. |

 DAY 6 : Aiguillon to Castillonnès/Villereal
Today’s ride is through the sleepy villages of ‘old southwest france', fields and forest full with deer and wild boar to the bastides of
Castillonés or Villeréal depending on your choice of hotel. |

DAY 7 : Castillonnès/Villeréal to Les Eyzies
The last day’s ride takes you to the medieval village and abbey of Cadouin via the bastide of Monpazier, then to the beautiful riverside village of Limeuil at the confluence of the Dordogne and Vezere rivers. Your hotel is in Les Eyzies, the centre of European prehistory.
(For those wishing to explore the local prehistory sites and cave art, include one extra night in Les Eyzies) |
